We invite you to share your stories about Jefferson County with us! The Magazine of the Jefferson County Historical Society began chronicling the area’s rich history in 1935. Collectively, the many articles featured in the publication have created a comprehensive record of County history.
Subject matter for articles should address some facet of the county’s history. To get an idea of previous content, see the Magazine index of articles.
If you have an idea you would like to explore before writing, or you need help in planning your manuscript, please feel free to contact me and we can discuss your project. We look forward to you adding your research to the time-honored stories of Jefferson County.
Before You Submit
Submission Guidelines
September 1st for the December issue. You may submit articles at any time during the year.
Use footnotes to document your sources. Readers like to know where your information comes from.
Articles range from 2-50 pages. A suggested length is 4,000-5,000 words, allowing for 4-5 articles per issue.
Photos and maps enhance your story. Submit high-resolution graphics separately with captions and permissions.
Use simple formatting — your article will be re-formatted for consistency with other pieces.
